Laurel A. Hoehn
One of Grossberg & Hoehn's founding partners, Laurel A. Hoehn received her Bachelors Degree from Cal State Northridge with a major in Psychology. She then worked for an expert witness who focused on psychopharmacology in what were primarily personal injury cases. During this time, Laurel began working with various attorneys in preparing the expert to testify in cases representing the Department of Transportation. Working with the attorneys, she found that each case contained a novel set of facts that enabled her to learn something new about a specific area of law each time, making every case interesting in its own way. The constantly challenging and informative nature of legal practice inspired Laurel to become a lawyer. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of La Verne College of Law where she participated in moot court honors and served as an articles editor for the University’s Law Review.
Laurel finds that the most satisfying element of practicing law is arguing and achieving the best results for her clients. A past case that stands out to her was a custody dispute Laurel handled in Orange County in which a father sought to obtain full custody of his children from the mother, who had been neglecting the children and using illegal drugs. Laurel argued the case and was able to obtain full custody for the father, without visitation to the mother, which she viewed as both a satisfying and correct result.
Laurel believes that the legal profession would be improved if more lawyers would be civil toward one another during the litigation process. Despite the adversarial nature of a legal proceeding, she maintains that basic courtesy between lawyers is important, even when the lawyers are on opposite sides of the proceeding.
Laurel is a Past President of the Western San Bernardino Bar Association.
In her free time, Laurel enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and gardening.
